Cars in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were notified by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police state preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.

Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for details.

An important political figure said the attack left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
