Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with former trainer Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on court had led commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet rescued four initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
