The Baldur's Gate 3 Creators Announce a Latest Divinity, Labeling it Their Largest RPG Yet

The buzz about The Game Awards has been intense, especially after host Geoff Keighley posted a puzzling image of a desert monolith. The secret has now been solved. Larian Studios is working on a brand-new Divinity game.

Revealed to be Divinity, the game was showcased with a daring trailer featuring striking imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to scenes of revelry and the literal opening of infernal gates.

A Different Direction

For those hoping for Divinity Original Sin 3, this is not that. Larian clarified that a third Original Sin game to its venerated RPGs is not being worked on now.

Nevertheless, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a next chapter of the core franchise. This distinction implies that the team might be crafting a real-time experience as opposed to another tactical title. For now, it remains theory, as only a cinematic trailer is available.

A Pillar of Modern RPGs

The Divinity series is widely praised and many say it pioneered the recent resurgence of crunchy computer role-playing games. These games are defined by intricate stories, branching plots, and flexible progression—qualities that recently were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.

While its universe is traditional swords and sorcery, what really distinguishes Divinity apart is the remarkable agency granted to the player.

While numerous modern RPGs have pared back options, Divinity is full of niche playthroughs you can achieve if you're playing as a particular class or origin with a specific history of choices.

The series is also wonderfully flexible, letting players to experiment both in story and combat. Virtually all objectives can be completed in diverse methods, sometimes in lateral fashion.

  • You might find an answer because you recalled something a dog told you.
  • Or, you could overcome an obstacle by using the world itself in a clever way.

A New Chapter Begins

It is these creative systems that lead fans and critics to hail games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games ever made. Now, players can look forward to more where that came from in this groundbreaking franchise.
